We Crucify Ourselves?

Get off the cross, Madonna... I need the mirror.

She should look into it before she hands it over.

And were you commandeering 'get down off the cross, someone else needs the wood' there? Very funny.

Dale,

I would never use the word "commandeering" to describe what I was doing, but yes, I was. I suppose it was only a matter of time before the world was going to see Madonna hanging off a cross, and I do think it's appropriately covered in mirrors, but I have to take issue here. She climbed up there on her own accord, to sing a twenty year old ballad ("Live To Tell") but martyr is not an archetype that Madonna represents. She should get off the cross, because, like I said, my painted on wounds are beginning to run and I need the mirror.

Thank you.

I appreciate your clarification on all shards here Saviour.

Commandeering was perhaps thrown into use a bit hastily and without appropriate forethought. A thousand pardons. Well, a hundred anyway.

Hey Madonna, I can see your house from here.

wouldn't it be ever so lovely if roman soldiers entered stage left and proceeded to drive rusty spikes and a cold spear into madonna? would make for a pleasant concert experience on my part.

Alas, no roman soldiers...

For the price of a ticket, this is as racy as it gets: a 47 year old pop star invoking the death of a 33 year old carpenter 2000 years ago. Is there nothing new? Oh, yeah. She does a John Travolta-Saturday Night Fever tribute in the third act. Kudos, Madge. Show the kids today how to "borrow" from the past. Next tour will include her new fetish: motorcycles!

Didn't Tori Amos already cover this territory, if not this song?
